Character Information
Name: Mira
Appearance: Katie Findlay is about as close as I've found. Aside from that a more specific description: Green eyes, slightly tanned skin. She's short, athletically built, with long brown hair she usually pulls back into a ponytail or a braid.
Age: 19
Canon Point: REVISION because I'm an idiot and forgot: Right after being captured by the soldiers following her village's attack.
Canon History: Infodump awayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Character History:
Mira was born and raised in a small farming village called Delos. Her mother and father were previously employed by the king, but when her mother Leona realized she was pregnant, they left (with much resistance from the king himself) and settled down in a small village. Her father and mother both worked hard on the farm while raising Mira, and while it wasn't the most privileged life, Mira never complained. It was comfortable. As she got older, she started learning what knowledge her parents had acquired during their own childhoods: history, languages, mathematics, and much more. Mira was an outlier, since most children outside the capital never got such opportunities.

Once Mira turned five years old, she started to show a proficiency for magic. Specifically, healing magic. It came when she tried to heal a bird's broken wings and succeeded. Luckily, her mother happened to be the only witness, and she quickly warned Mira to be careful with her gift. Mira learned at a young age that it was very dangerous to be a mage in Cosia: The king outlawed magic, and ordered that any mages be brought to him to be executed. While Mira was aware of the dangers, she practiced magic in the safety of her home. She healed her parents if they got injured on the farm, and her magic started to become stronger. By age ten, she could heal most major wounds. Her mother, the village healer, sometimes asked Mira to assist in the healing process while the patients were asleep from her mother's sleeping potions.

Around this time, her father Eugene started to teach her how to wield a sword. While Mira wasn't very strong, she learned how to fight fairly well. She practiced under the cover of night in the orchards, and combined with her daily chores, she grew pretty strong. At the age of fifteen, Mira was not only well-educated, but strong and able to defend herself in combat. Her father taught her to make her own bow and arrows, too, and took her out to the forest sometimes to hunt. Her mother taught her herbal mixtures, and with all of this knowledge, she was sometimes sent out on trips to gather food.

Unfortunately, unbeknownst to Mira, now eighteen years old, this caught the attention of the empire. A spy—a mage named Elios—was sent to Delos, and he attempted to get close to Mira. While she largely kept her guard up around him, one day while they were gathering greens in the forest, a wolf attacked. Elios sustained a major injury, and in a panic, Mira healed him. He sent word back to the capital, and weeks later, Delos was attacked. Many of the villagers were killed defending Mira, and her parents were cut down in front of her. She was able to heal them just in time, but she fled as fast as she could. The soldiers caught her and chained her, and carted her off to the capital.

Mira had an affinity for ice magic, though; she froze and broke the shackles and beat down the soldiers and Elios with her magic. She didn't go back to Delos, but instead, escaped into the thick forest. She survived for a few weeks before rebels found her and took her in as one of her own. For several years she traveled with the group and learned how to better hunt and fight. All the while, unrest brewed stronger, and a rebellion started to grow stronger. Mira found herself in the thick of it: the leader of the group who'd found her, Mae, turned out to be the leader of the rebellion. Mira and Mae grew to trust each other deeply, and Mira agreed to be her right-hand woman.

Eventually, the empire weakened considerably, and the rebels took the capital. They subdued and locked away the remaining soldiers and King Iskand. Mae handed Mira the blade, and Mira took Iskand's life. As it turned out, Mira's parents had been taken and imprisoned, and in the aftermath of Iskand's death, Mira and her parents took time to recuperate and rest. During the time of their imprisonment, Eugene and Leona had discussed a more democratic system. Mira agreed to help, and while it took a long time, it was put into place. Content that her parents were safe and sound, Mira retreated into the forest with Mae and lived with her. Eventually, they married, and lived happily together.
Personality:
Mira, upon first impression, is kind of distant. She's spent most of her life in a small village with just her parents and a few other families, so while she's had plenty of social interaction, it was with a small group of people. Mira doesn't often open up, and she doesn't like to talk about herself--she prefers to use actions rather than words. She'll do small but meaningful things: make a cup of tea for someone upset; bake a small dessert; provide a blanket when warmth's needed. While she isn't excellent at reading people, she knows when someone's upset or mad. Mira doesn't like seeing people in pain, so she does what she can to remedy it. She's a good listener, even if she's not great at talking, but here and there she'll offer some advice or a soothing word.

Mira cares about people genuinely, then. Once she's gotten to know and like someone, she'll go to great lengths to protect them or make sure they're happy. For those she's less familiar and comfortable with, she'll see if there's anything she can do... and if not, she'll leave it be. So she's not perfect, and she's a little awkward, but she tries. Mira is aware somewhat of how unsure she is around people, and she won't deny it... but she doesn't necessarily like it when people point it out. She's actually pretty uncomfortable when people point it out, and she'll avoid them for a while if they acknowledge it. So, she's pretty self-conscious. Mira doesn't like looking her failures in the face, and she'll do whatever she can to avoid doing so. It's an issue she's aware of, but not one she's looking to actively fix. It actually takes a lot to get her to acknowledge her failings, and even then, there's a ton of resistance.

And she's stubborn. Mira doesn't back down from things she feels strongly about. She has a temper, but she doesn't let it show; she internalizes a lot of things, and they add up. When they reach a point where they've piled up a lot, she might snap at people, even those she likes... but she tries not to. And always after she's had an argument with someone, she apologizes and does what she can to make it up. Mira can be pretty aggressive when she wants to be. But at the same time, if she gets too overloaded, she might shut down and push people away. It's pretty rare for that to happen, though, and under very high-stress situations. And Mira takes in a lot of stress. She doesn't easily talk about it at all, and it takes quite a bit of pushing to get her to a point where she'll talk. It's not impossible, though.

She's not completely a negative person, though. Mira's generally willing to talk to people who approach her. She does like helping people as a whole, and she's happy when people are happy. Sure, she's not the most open person, but she doesn't want people to suffer. As far as she's concerned, no one should have to suffer in any way, and as long as she can prevent suffering, she'll do it. Mira's loyal to people she truly cares about and loves; loyalty is a huge deal for her, and when loyalty's broken, she doesn't react well. Betrayal's a button one doesn't want to press with her, and she'll make that displeasure known--and it's one of the few things she's incredibly vocal about. Mira's generally a quiet person, but once something's made her extremely angry, she'll raise her voice or lash out. She usually keeps a calm head, so seeing her act irrationally is a pretty rare sight.

She also has a very clear sense of right and wrong. Especially in regards to magic, she has a clear idea of right and wrong. Mira's stubborn about this, too: Magic should be used for good, and anything else is abhorrent. She's not the most flexible person when it comes to her idea of right and wrong being challenged; she'll resist as much as she can. It'd take a lot to convince her to think differently, and even then, she won't be very happy about it. That said, it's not impossible... just very difficult. She knows logically that shady things are sometimes necessary, but her heart isn't so easily swayed. Deep down, she's a pretty salty person.
Abilities: She's a mage, which is the biggest one. She's not powerful, but she can hold her own. Mira can use offensive magic (fire, water, wind, earth, etc.), but her true talent rests in healing. Think of it like black magic and white magic; Mira's more inclined to use her white magic, and while she can't revive people from the dead, it's nothing to shake a stick at. She can heal ailments and minor sicknesses in addition to wounds; wounds, though, she can heal very serious ones.

REVISION: White magic can be used to heal wounds, from very minor (so scrapes or cuts) to major (not fatal, but very close; so she could heal a gash or other serious wounds like major burns, but not say... decapitation or amputation. Essentially, regrowing limbs for someone or some such is impossible. She can't revive people from the dead. She can heal sicknesses, too, or poisoning. Unlike typical JRPG white magic, she can't heal things like status debuffs.

Black magic can be used offensively; fire can be harnessed in a number of ways, from purely attacks (fireballs, mostly) to something like holding a flame in her hand to provide light and warmth. She can also use it practically, such as to cook food or light a fire.

Water is used, again, as attacks, from a torrent of water up to a small wave, and she can use it to do things like put fires out; theoretically she could use it as drinking water, but drinking magic water is kind of weird; water's also connected to ice, and since ice is her offensive specialty, she has a lot of practice with it, such as creating ice needles or tracks of ice, or freezing water.

Wind can be used to knock people off their feet, to dry clothes or such, and she can use it to create a temporary barrier, kind of like the aero spell from Kingdom Hearts. She can also use it to boost herself when she jumps, or across small gaps.

Earth is shakier for her; she doesn't have the disposition to use it well, but she is capable of creating very tiny earthquakes in a very centralized area--so, say, she could knock someone off-balance with it. Theoretically she could use her earth magic to create earth walls or shields, but she hasn't yet reached that point.

Essentially her offensive magic isn't very strong except for when she's most emotional; that's when she gets the biggest reactions, such as larger earthquakes, ice walls, flame walls, or large waves of water. But it'd take a lot for her to get to that point. Regardless, I'd be more than happy to accept any nerfs you guys require.

She also has knowledge of different weapons, but especially bows. She's a pretty good shot, which makes her an excellent hunter.
Inventory: Hunting outfit: A tunic, pants, boots, and hooded cloak.
Bow and arrows: A silver bow with a quiver of twenty arrows.
Locket: A locket from her mother--not very useful, but very sentimental.
